Chinatown Central Subway Station
DESCRIPTION
The Central Subway Project is extending San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s (SFMTA) Third Street Light Rail project.  The project will provide a direct north-south transit link between the Bayshore and Mission Bay areas north to SoMa, Union Square, and Chinatown.  RHAA is working with Kwan Hemni architects on the design of the public outdoor open spaces and plaza at the Chinatown Station.  The design process included input from Chinatown’s community and active collaboration with the design, engineering and construction teams.  The station will provide a valuable open space for both residents and visitors in the most densely populated urban area west of Manhattan.
