Dedicated to the men and women who have served the State of California and the nation, this proposed cemetery provides a location where they may find eternal peace in a setting rich with military history and quiet dignity. The cemetery will honorably serve the need for Veterans in the four counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara. At full 100 year build out, the cemetery will supply approximately 113,000 gravesites. Phase one construction will provide for approximately 18,000 gravesites and will be adequate for twenty years.

RHAA prepared a Feasibility Study and Master Plan for this proposed State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Ord on a site of rolling hills. The Master Plan incorporates striking features that memorialize US veterans’ service, including a major flag plaza, amphitheater and memorial wall. The design team collaborated with a Citizens’ Advisory Commission composed of representatives of local veterans groups.
