RHAA participated in the Verona Towers International Competition in collaboration with Architecture International. The challenge was to develop two office towers on the site of an industrial plant. RHAA’s site concept was to utilize the rubble from the demolition of the plant to build up a series of walls and terraces. These terraces allowed for the development of a parking structure below a podium garden level. The concept was based on Romeo and Juliet, two towers that linked two different site treatments – a plaza with a series of gabion walls one side and a large lawn on the other. A central plaza connected the two towers and bisques of trees allowed for seating. A photovoltaic trellis had a torque form to allow for ideal sun exposure. Architecture International was chosen as the winner of the competition.
