Building from RHAA’s work on the Candlestick Point and Hunters Point Shipyard Phase II concept planning, and informed by the Streetscape Master Plan, RHAA worked with Lennar/FivePoint and its engineering team to design and construct the first phase of new streets and public spaces. As the first phase of the project, the project refined master plan concepts for the Alice Griffith neighborhood and civic “Spine” corridor to set more specific standards for materials, furnishings, paving patterns, lighting, stormwater planters, and the urban forest. Through this process designs were developed to meet project budget, maintenance, performance, and City agency requirements. The project’s first public space, Egbert Plaza was designed as a place for community gathering that also creates a visual gateway into the Alice Griffith neighborhood.
