In collaboration with Group 4 Architecture, RHAA prepared a conceptual plan for a new community center for the City of Burlingame. The new recreation center will replace the existing facility located in Washington Park on the former Gunst Estate. RHAA reviewed several building and site designs for impacts to the existing park as well as the opportunities each layout presented.
The proposed design links park amenities along a meandering ‘Charm Bracelet’ path which terminates at the Community Center. It also serves as the backdrop for a new plaza that collects park circulation. Other improvements include: a small entry plaza with seating at the opposite end of the park; terraced seating to relax and watch nearby baseball games; improved bocci ball courts, horseshoe rings, and basketball court; additional surface parking and colorful planting
