Olmsted Point Rehabilitation
DESCRIPTION
Olmsted Point overlook affords visitors expansive views of the dramatic granite landscape of the High Sierras including Half Dome, Cloud’s Rest and Tenaya Canyon. RHAA led a design team to complete the $1.6 million rehabilitation, providing a dramatic upgrade to a degraded site. The project enlarged viewing areas that are edged with a rustic granite block wall that blends with the natural landscape and provides much needed informal seating. The rehabilitation also included accessibility improvements, interpretive exhibits, a bronze topographic map and trailhead information. The significant project was another result of the public-private partnership between the National Park Service and the Yosemite Conservancy.
