Louisville Museum Plaza
DESCRIPTION
Louisville Museum Plaza is a mixed use high-rise project located on the Ohio River in downtown Louisville.  The building design by REX Architects will be an iconic marker on the waterfront.  The building program includes a hotel, office tower, two residential towers and an art museum.  RHAA in collaboration with artist Ned Kahn, developed a concept for the site that recalls the moods of the river and the memory of the effects of the river on the land.  Stacked limestone planters, curved stainless steel water features and a pixellated paving pattern create a dramatic pattern on the large roof deck.  A tilted plane of water underneath a spiral ramp that circles around two stainless steel water bowls is a dramatic entrance to the project from Main Street.  The project also includes an etched stainless steel history wall commemorating the historical significance of the site.
