Oakland Convention Center and Marriott Hotel
DESCRIPTION
RHAA has been working with CIM Group and Arcsine Architecture on redeveloping the urban plazas along Broadway between 10th and 11th Streets.  The Marriott Hotel has recently completed a major interior renovation and needed a new street façade to bring life and excitement to the block.  At 11th and Broadway, RHAA proposed a design that added a dramatic bamboo garden gateway connecting the 2 streets. The gateway enhances the pedestrian experience while providing a sense of scale to the existing architecture.  Modern materials and clean lines create a fresh urban space for people to enjoy and congregate.  At 11th and Broadway, RHAA developed an auto court theme to organize pedestrian and vehicular traffic and parking, while bringing in some much needed light to the corner.  Paving materials direct pedestrians and provide interest to the existing asphalt paving.
