The goals of the client for this 'Park of Remembrance' was to develop an entirely new Chilean cemetery design and a project that would respond to the needs of the community while being economically viable, environmentally sound, and above all, beautiful.  The design incorporated radiating circles linked by a major tree lined axis which is punctuated by fountains and colorful gardens.  Working closely with the client, RHAA developed a Master Plan followed by Construction Documents, completed in less than five months with all documents were in metric and Spanish.  Site construction commenced in mid-1980 and the first interment occurred in December the same year. 
 
Parque del Recuerdo has received wide acclaim from the Santiago press describing the significance of the cemetery in the urban landscape.  The great success of the project is attributed to the quality and distinction of the design and the quality of the services, operations, and maintenance provided by management.  RHAA has continued to provide design services for the client including recent master plans for two new properties acquired by the client as well as infill projects in the existing cemetery.
