BART Transit Operations Facility

RHAA teamed with MERGE Conceptual Design to re-imagine the Lake Merritt Station Plaza block. The design was approached as an urban design study on a broader scale to catalyze future development and to better connect the new Transit Operations Facility (TOF) to the plaza and surrounding neighbohood. The approach aimed to develop a single concept that would communicate a consistent architectural language for both the building and plaza. As part of the process RHAA also led meetings with community stakeholders with the intent of not only guiding the design of the project, but also to absorb the personal stories of the local residents and the larger Chinatown neighborhood. This interaction helped developed specific goals for the TOF and plaza design.
