We are a landscape architecture, planning, and urban design practice.

Royston, Hanamoto, Alley & Abey (RHAA) is a landscape architecture and planning firm whose projects range from small-scale design initiatives to large new community plans and institutional campuses. We work with both public and private clients and thrive on collaborating with communities of all sizes. While the majority of our work is in California, our practice includes projects throughout the United States, South America, and the Pacific Rim.

Our diverse portfolio demonstrates our strengths in research, contextual and thoughtful design, client collaboration, leadership of community outreach efforts, production of compelling and legible graphics, and development of innovative design solutions. We approach every project through the lens of placemaking, believing that each has a unique context, history, and program, as well as the potential to strengthen and enhance the surrounding community. We strive to create active urban and public spaces that bring vitality, connection, and a sense of place to the cities and communities they serve.

We are a medium-sized office, small enough that our principals remain actively involved in projects through a hands-on approach, yet large enough to provide the staff resources necessary to deliver projects of any scale. We take pride in our responsiveness to our clients’ needs, schedules, and budgets.

RHAA meets the established guidelines for a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and a Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).
