Camino Ramon Housing

RHAA is proud to lead the landscape architecture for the Camino Ramon Apartments, a vibrant new affordable housing community on a 2.2-acre site in San Ramon, California. Located just one mile east of the city’s civic heart, this thoughtfully planned development brings 200 much-needed multifamily units to a walkable, amenity-rich neighborhood.

The project comprises two contemporary residential buildings, rising five and six stories, framing a series of dynamic outdoor spaces designed to foster connection, wellness, and everyday enjoyment. Elevated courtyards on the 4th and 5th floors serve as social hubs, offering an array of community-focused amenities including children’s play areas, tranquil gardens, cozy lounges, and communal gathering zones. These terraces provide both respite and opportunity for engagement.

At the ground level, a welcoming public plaza greets residents and visitors alike, creating a strong sense of arrival and guiding them seamlessly to the building entrances. The landscape design weaves together function and beauty with features such as a dedicated dog park, integrated stormwater planters, and a palette of native plantings that celebrate and reflect the surrounding natural character of San Ramon. Together, these landscape elements create a cohesive, livable, and environmentally responsive setting that enhances daily life while supporting long-term sustainability for the community.
