Dedicated to the men and women who have served the State of California and the nation, this proposed cemetery provides a place where veterans may find eternal peace in a setting rich with military history and quiet dignity. The cemetery will honorably serve the needs of veterans and their families in Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara counties.
At full build-out over a 100-year planning horizon, the cemetery will provide approximately 113,000 gravesites. Phase One construction will include approximately 18,000 gravesites, providing capacity for an estimated 20 years of service.
RHAA prepared the Feasibility Study and Master Plan for this proposed State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Ord, located on a site of rolling hills. The Master Plan incorporates significant memorial features that honor U.S. veterans’ service, including a major flag plaza, amphitheater, and memorial wall. The design team collaborated closely with a Citizens’ Advisory Commission composed of representatives from local veterans’ organizations to help shape the vision for the cemetery.
