The El Dorado Beach project represents the first phase of a broader vision for a new civic and recreational center in South Lake Tahoe. Evolving from a year-long collaborative community engagement process, the project integrates a range of design objectives and sustainably reinterprets the local design vernacular to create a LEED Gold–certified recreational and community gathering space.
Informed by extensive public outreach, the project addressed multiple challenges: creating a resilient community space capable of accommodating the heavy use typical of a prominent city park visited by both locals and tourists, while also protecting the pristine ecological conditions and water clarity of Lake Tahoe.
