Meta’s Dumbarton Campus transformed an existing auto-oriented business park into a well-connected, multi-modal, and amenity-rich campus with a vibrant, pedestrianized core. Guided by the user experience, the site design creates distinct and comfortable spaces for employees and visitors to enjoy, while improving site sustainability and efficient operations. Taking cues from a diversity of California landscapes, and relating to the themed indoor workspaces, the Dumbarton Campus design creates a dynamic and fluid experience through distinct outdoor neighborhoods –providing spaces for outdoor working, dining, fitness, events, and relaxation.
Wayfinding, branding, specialty amenity structures, and art bring a unique identity to the site experiences. The comfort of this windy and exposed bay-side site is improved through topographic design, vegetated wind breaks, large-scale shade trees, and shade and wind trellis structures. Meta invested in careful soil preparation, plant selection, and plant disease testing to ensure optimal conditions for healthy plants to provide human, environmental, and wildlife benefit.
