Panhandle Playground

Working alongside the San Francisco playground initiative ‘Let’sPlaySF!, RHAA

redesigned the children’s playground in the iconic Panhandle. RHAA’s work

on the Panhandle playground contributed to a larger initiative by the City to

renovate 13 of the current playgrounds most in need of safety and design

improvements. RHAA oversaw the project from design and public outreach

through construction. Working with the City Recreation and Parks Department,

RHAA developed an outreach plan that included multiple focus groups,

workshops and social media outreach to get as much input as possible.

The resulting playground is listed on some websites as one of the 10 best

playgrounds in the United States. It is very actively used and has become the

pride of the neighborhood and the park department.
