The 116-acre National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is located within the basin of Puowaina Crater, a significant geological and historical landmark in Honolulu, Hawaii. The cemetery currently contains approximately 53,000 interments and is approaching its capacity limits.
RHAA is currently working on a project to increase interment capacity by approximately 9,000 columbarium niches, providing for an estimated 15 years of future burial needs. As an initial phase of the project, RHAA conducted a comprehensive assessment of the entire cemetery to identify suitable locations for new columbaria.
In addition to the new columbaria, the project includes infrastructure improvements throughout the cemetery and the construction of a new Public Information Center and Administration Facility located outside the crater.
