Yahoo! Master Plan

As sub consultant to RMW Architecture and Interiors, RHAA is developing the 50-acre Santa Clara campus as the workplace of the future for 12,000 people. Located at the south end of the San Francisco Bay, the campus will be seamlessly integrated into the surrounding landscape and is designed to encourage innovation and collaboration with flexible open spaces, intentional adjacencies and thoughtful connections. Two levels of parking will sit hidden below the campus of thirteen buildings. Bosques will knit the campus together, serving as the primary pedestrian corridors and offering comfortable places to sit and gather, work and play. Large lawns, plazas, and garden areas are sited adjacent to the activated bosques creating a variety of connected flexible open spaces. The bosques also connect to the main activity generators of the campus: the Commons buildings. These buildings house indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, meeting rooms, auditoriums and food services. The campus has been designed with two institutional-level goals in mind: it has been designed as a single unified campus and as a site that can converted into three separate campuses. This will allow significant flexibility and adaptability for Yahoo! as a 21st century innovator. As a model for the workplace of the future, sustainable urban design strategies have informed the design solution by promoting campus activation, employee collaboration and health, maximizing system efficiencies, and minimizing negative environmental impacts.; The project was designed be LEED certified.
